Minnesota!

That is so funny, Blanch. Is it reusable?

I'm up because the last egg hatched. A blondie. There are three that probably will not hatch giving me a 80% hatch rate.

I came home from working at 12 hour OT night shift to find the new 5qt waterer I had just put in the brooder had knocked over! All the water was gone, fortunately my brooder floor is angled a bit with a small gap so the water ran out. I refilled it and when input it back in there, the chicks (11 of them) drank and drank and drank. I felt terrible! Oh well, they are all thriving. Will be 4 weeks here in a few days and I'm thinking of moving them to the coop during the day next week when it will be in the 70's. Dang they grow fast!

mnbrew, it happens, and you still feel terrible. I did something similiar this week, thinking the quail water had not frozen over, but it was a block of ice. Poor quail drank and drank and drank.

Much to my surprise, I'm moving ok this morning. getting old and having a sedentary desk job - the first workday of spring which is usually gardening really hurts! good thing is seeing that clean clean sweet smelling coop this morning. the girls are still not pleased with the changes - you always have to move something to a better place when you put it all back in.

Wow Holm. You have a lot of cattle? Has this been always? Very cool Klop!! So I made a Chicken Sh-it Bingo game. Didn't spend a dime. All out of pallets or things I have had. We will be using it at the Rockers Spring Social. It is a motorcycle show event we have every year. What do you think?
Nope. We raise cows with my grandpa. But our part of the herd is slowly growing! It went from 1 to 2 and now 3½. Our 3rd had a big beautiful heifer calf yesterday who is not pictured That looks cool!! Scandia thats a pretty good hatch rate! Hatch day is tomorrow and none have even pipped. I'm scared I screwed up...

For those of you who sell eggs - how old would you let them become?
For example I'll only sell eggs laid in the past ten days. Any older and they are cooked and fed back to the chickens.

Holm, thanks. I'm quite impressed and secretly hoping that's it. Have far more chicks than I planned for...
Did I mention that I ordered 10 Bielefelders?
My father was born about 100 miles from where the breed originated. After reading about them decided to try them out.
There were four extras in the shipment.

22 Jersey Giants
12 own hatch
14 Bielefelders/EE ( I think)

Yup, gonna need another coop. Soon.

Holm, your herd looks so healthy and they are thriving! Calves are so much fun.

blamch, that chicken bingo thing is hilarious! where the heck did you come up with that idea?
It is reusable. Just wipe it off. To much work if it wasn't.
Lala. It was made popular at a bar in Austin TX called Ginny's Little Longhorn. http://www.theguardian.com/travel/v...ttle-longhorn-chicken-****-bingo-austin-video If you click on this and than go into the address bar and change the stars back to what they are suppose to be. It will bring you to the link. Sorry about the PITA.
