Minnesota!

I should have some chicks available later in the season. I can't sex day olds though, so are you looking for a few chicks or for an older pullet/hen? I am up in Milaca area.

We can only have hens in our area and we're only looking for one, so I guess I would be willing to take an older pullet. I'll have to ask my daughter. Thank you for your reply! I'll let you know if she agrees.

It will be awhile before I have a pullet to offer for sale, but will make a note and keep your info for when I have one available.

Minnie: You are the perfect enabler!

Even catering to a restrictive half dozen eggs. LOL.

I usually am breaking that Broody and so find it a pain to deal with...but right now Im really wanting her Broody! LOL. Poor hen...she's got a fickle owner. Want some nicer weather for her though.... And maybe build her, her own little brooding space (coop) so nothing is stepped on or broken and giving her some good privacy. Set her up for success.

Weather.com says -3 tonight. ugh. Tomorrow should be nicer though.

Does anyone know where I would be able to find the following:
Russian Orloff
Dun Laced Wyandotte
Salmon Faverolle
Red Laced Wyandotte
Lavender Oprington

We'd like to start with 3 female chickens this year then add 2 the next year and these are our favorites =)

The easiest of these to get are the BLRWyandottes. I have them, but right now only what I am using for breeding. Once they are laying I will be hatching and selling chicks. The next easiest will be the Lavender Orps. However, if you are looking for adult birds or those close to laying, you will be harder pressed to locate this time of year.
Dun Laced anything, you are going to spend an arm and a leg for. Orloffs are rare, but there are breeders. Salmon Favs are not a really popular breed, but there again, there are some out there if you look in the right places.
Good luck in your search.

I'm so excited! My daughter came up with a solution to the brooder problem. She suggested that I keep them in the mud room in the 100 gal stock tank for the first 4 week then put them in the bathroom in the shop (which isn't used except for the well) & is heated. I never go in there because the toilet doesn't work anyways so I never thought about it. Now it's time for chicken math :))

Chickiegrrl- SFH are on my list to get & I'm in Nowthen. We could go together maybe?

Russian Orloffs and Salmon Faverolles can be purchased as pullets from hatcheries. Lavender Orps have become pretty common. They wouldn't be hard to find.

Thank you both! I was able to find Salmon Faverolles and Lavender Orpington's from my petchicken and I guess I can try and find one more from my list locally. =)
