Minnesota!

Oh John Deere yellow is heavy equipment then.

Rainy and thunderstorms here. Nothing heavy duty like wadena and such.

Sadie ate a DVD yesterday. Everything but a quarter sized piece. I've seriously never had such a dog. She also lunged at my rooster. So she's getting more and more rambunctious. Gol she's a PITA. We are going to the humane society for an adult dog next time. So of course DVD thing happens on a Saturday. But a vet friend on Facebook had us do canned pumpkin feeding a every 2-4 hours. It seems everything kept moving along. I think were in the clear now.
Never been so excited to see a dog poop every couple hours.

No eggs -- my birds are on serious summer break and Dixie has decided she's broody again. Nutball silkie. That's fine they need an ovary rest.

Many years ago I adopted a lab pup from the local shelter. She's been hit by a car and had a broken leg.

Because I'm a tree-huggin' pushover , she was my pick. The vet said no activity until the leg heals, try telling that to a lab pup.

She ate most of my shoes in the process.

Long story short.... About one year later she died of bone cancer. A far too short of a life, but in that time we had a blast. I adopted a Scottish Terrier from the same shelter as a companion for her. That curmudgeon ended up with me for another 15 years.

Go figure.

Wow lots of reading. again..
You guys went big with the John Deere yellow, I was thinking smaller, much smaller. My Lawn cutting deck, and snow blower are yellow..

Not being a tree hugger, I go for the down and out under dogs too. Labs are usually great dogs after 2 years of age, they calm down and listen well, EXCEPT Pearl, our 7 year old. she is rambunctious, gets into trouble and craves attention 24 hours a day. She is the only lab we have ever had that never grew up.

She has no hip bone on the right side, she was hit by a car, ( another Mom Story, sigh), $4,000 later she walks and runs just fine. the only side effect and it may not even be one, is we cannot seem to get her pregnant. I have tried 4-5 times to have her bred, and she never takes.

Even without the hip and being an overgrown puppy she is a great hunter. She retrieves and hands me the bird. She heels perfectly, stops when I do, When told to flush never goes more than 15-20 yards in front of me, works from side to side. I can see when she is on a scent by her tail and body language but she does not rush it.

She even takes food gently without the last second "lunge" for the morsel labs try to do.

It appears my birds made it through the night. I lost a baby turkey in the heat yesterday, and Ethel lost a baby the day before, but hers was lost to the mentally ill hen sitting on eggs in the same pen as Ethel and the babies. We took the eggs from the insane one last night and gave her new chicken eggs. I have no idea if she will sit another 3 weeks or not. She is skin and bones but refuses to stop sitting. She has been sitting between 4-7 weeks already. I was in Florida and my DW and Mom did not notice when the blue stopped sitting and the self blue started, to them they both look alike.

I still have all 73 of my CX's alive. last night was the first night of fasting for them. When I gave the feed this AM it was a stampede of yellow marshmallows.

Everything went south of us that was serious. BIR looks like they've got some curled up fan stands. That's some power there.

We got a good soaking that's about it and some thunder and lightning. Not bad though. All is well with the chickens.

Ralphie. yellow implements is a good start.

Dinner party tonight with some younger folks. Got the table dressed up and local cuisine of venison waiting to be grilled (per request). Kinda fun.

We got smoked yesterday. The worst was the hard cross winds. I left my top vents open on the coop cause there is a over hang that usually prevents rain coming in, but that cross wind blew rain right into the coop. Looks like I will be doing a clean out and putting new bedding in. My mistake

Mine were in great shape this morning, flying out of the coop like bullets

We're giving the groups more integration time and it seems to be working well.

Zeus, however, has taken an extreme dislike to one of the younger roos.
