You don't even have to tell me about the joyful mess of ducklings. And this weather!!!! Who p***ed on Mother Nature's Wheaties? We got over an inch of snow tonight, and now it is blowing like crazy. I think that my birds and I both are getting trench foot.

Love your gorgeous Cochins. I think they are one of my favorite breeds. So pretty.

I cannot imagine a mess of ducklings. I rescued 2 last week and am surprised they can be so messy. One has not even been moving much and she is still pretty messy.

np75, COME ON DOWN! I have plenty of chicks, new and up to about a month. This crazy weather must have people shying away from chicks this year. I have a few breeds to choose from. PM me if you want more info.

So instead of hatching a little late (or not at all) due to a power outage....I woke up this morning to 1 chick and 1 pipped about 12 hours earlier than originally anticipated! Both are Icelandic eggs, we'll see how the rest (6) do.

The last two weeks' hatches here have been very odd. Last week's I had a lot more that were live going into the hatcher but never hatched. They were fully developed, but never made a pip even. Then this week they started hatching 3 days early and took almost 4 days to all finish. Where as all my others (every week since Jan 9th) have been like clockwork. Very odd. I blame all the crazy weather!
