Minnesota!

If anyone is interested, I have 10 Black or Blue Cochin pullets and hens for sale. $10 each. I just need to get what I don't need for breeding out of the pen. I have some cockerels available to go with them as well.

Welcome Logan, I am just east of Brainerd.

I let each pen out for an hour today. They all stretched, ran around a little then went back in their pens on their own. I did have the south barn door open all day for some fresh air while I built another roost. No one ventured outside but they did enjoyed the sunshine. This weather is colder than a witches t*t in a brass bra in the middle of June!!!!!!

Hi and welcome!

Yep, this is pretty brutal. Hopefully tomorrow is better. Don't you love it when 15 feels warm?

Weather.com app is JUNK! It said last night that the overnight low for us was going to be -9. I woke up to -31 this morning!

I feel so bad for my birds. Coop temp managed to stay -15...but I'm not into this cruel weather. That's for sure!

Glad tomorrow is suppose to get to double digits. I have a small china made coop in a 6x12 dog run. I have heavy duty see thru tarp on half of the dog run and hay piled on the north side,2 lighter wt tarps on the rest of run but it fits under my screened in porch so dry and no snow. I have a heated dog dish in the run and a red 75 watt lite in the coop. Two hens and a roo. the roo was suppose to be a hen, ha ha. I had to get a hen apron for his favorite as she was starting to loose her feathers on her back. I put a med wt tarp over the top of my coop at nite as well but wondering if I should eliminate it. It doesn't cover the entire coop but when I pull it off in the am there is alittle frost on the inside of the tarp. Anyone want to comment??? This is my 1st winter with them and I plan on getting a better coop in the spring.
I live in Wyoming MN. I have been worried about them but feeling a little better after reading the mn thread.

No need for the extra tarp, sounds like you may need more ventilation if their is frost involved. Just need to keep drafts down.
So far it's -25 f. This so sucks!!!!

Anyone close to Fergus Falls that would be interested in one or two beautiful bearded white silkies? We are afraid that we have three and can only keep one. They are from eggs that we purchased from a local person who raises them for show. They would make excellent showbirds for a 4H'er or just as pets. They are handled on a daily basis and are friendly.
