Jeebus! How much snow did you guys get? All of a sudden the inch we got here that's already 90% melted doesn't seem so bad.

Well, look at the positive side, it will help keep drought at bay?
I know it is a pain in the butt to have to deal with all of that again so late. I feel for you all who were in the path of the snow this time. It doesn't seem right at all.
We moved to our farm in July 1999. The following April 19th we broke ground for our first gardens. It seems impossible that that was the date looking out there today. It will come though, and in July we will be singing the blues because the heat is killing us and our birds. Not being a native Minnesotan, I never knew there were such extremes in weather here until we moved here. Now I find myself explaining to folks back home how HOT it gets here in Summer.

I was born here, so I am used to the weather extremes. But it's sort of a Minnesota thing to always talk and complain about the weather

I too am not a native Minnesotan, we moved here from northern California. I was introduced to the extremes of our weather. The very first two weekends I was home alone when tornadoes hit our farm. Minor damage but it seemed to leave us all the garbage it had picked up. The third weekend my mom and dad were home. That one hit hard and BIR too. Then we got nailed by the holloween snow storm. That dropped 3 feet of snow and we literally had to dig ourselves out. This was all in 1991. Then in 1996 we had -60 degree plus -60 wind chill. No matter were I have lived I have never knowen such unforgiving and hostile weather.

I'm a native also, but it just wouldn't seem right if we didn't talk about how bipolar Mother Nature is. I really do want more of the snow gone for Easter, I need to hide the geocaches for the hunt. We are doing a geocache Easter, an idea my oldest grand daughter thought up last year, but I didn't have a GPS to mark the coordinates. Of course there will be at least 1 hide in or around the coop. Wonder what the girls will think about some colorful eggs in the unused nest box.

Minnie- I've always told people that we live in igloos year round. It reduces the number of unwelcomed guests. Hehehe

Has anyone sent a bird in to the U of MN for a necropsy?

How much did it cost?

What did you think of it all?

Just trying to decide if its worth it. I looked it up and it's $75 dollars but I always thought it was cheaper than that so just wondering if they raised the price. I am having my little hen put down next week because of a large mass that is growing rapidly while she is losing weight. I just don't know if it's worth 75 dollars to find out if it was cancerous or if she had anything else going on. But how much would it be to cremate her at the vet? Maybe it would be about the same, I have no idea.

Anyone have any advice or suggestions? Just sort of stressed and sad so trying to make sense of it all
