Minnesota!

You are all too quick to post for me. I feel like the weird great aunt that comes to Christmas only once every decade that smells like mothballs and can't hear anything anyone says. I did, however, read every post. So I know you, and you still don't know me, and I might just go around pinching cheeks and handing out back-handed compliments.

Scandia it is so awesome seeing our old boys grow up here. I miss them...well, some of them

I almost picked up a calico cochin hen myself...I'm guessing from the same place. Still looking for a dark egger and a bantam to keep my green chicken company.

I still have the Delaware, his home keeps pushing a pick up date back, so I am just starting over. He is massive, he is gentle, he is funny, and he doesn't crow yet. If anyone wants a great rooster let me know. I also have a banty cochin roo that is a total nerd. He doesn't crow and I think he thinks he is boss, but he isn't.

On a super side note, my honey won 4th place at the fair this year! I have been canning and preserving like a lot of you, and extracting honey, and trying to talk my freeloading pullets into earning their keep. So far the canning and honey are a huge success, the chickens just mock me and jump on my head. I think this super blue egg layer is close though.

Oh boy am I slow.. When I read the last paragraph that says " my honey won 4th place at the fair this year' I thought how did she get to show a chicken this year!!!! ( thinking honey was your chickens name) Then the lights flickered a little and I realized you meant real honey.

I want to learn beekeeping someday, but I am afraid of bee stings and pain. I keep seeing the "beekeeping for dummies" book in fleetfarm, but so far I have not gotten it.

I've been stung a lot, until I started wearing a full suit, and now I am sting free. It's expensive to keep bees, but I love the whole process. My (real) honey is just a bonus. My honey (husband) would have won more than 4th place, he's a good one.

I would use the bigger one on the CX hen. Good luck on keeping her alive over the winter. I am going to keep 5-6 and hope to have a few in the spring. I know some will die.

I have high hopes for Betty white. She is either some kind of recessive or 'daddy was hiding behind the woodpile' she never got big like the rest of the CX. She is still stout and breast heavy, but not real CX size

Hello! I've been reading this thread for awhile now and thought I would introduce myself. I'm from Dayton, Mn.
I currently only have two pekin ducks and two pilgrim ganders. No chickens YET... Hopefully in the near future after we do some much needed work to our barn.

Since most of you own chickens this may be a shot in the dark but was wondering if any of you breed and sell call ducks. We are looking for a few that are under a week old... I would love to hear from you. Thanks, and have a wonderful day!
No ducks here. I am lucky to have chickens! Welcome!!

These are my chickens... At least they act like chickens. They are my
400
pilgrim ganders, Oscar and Ollie. They don't know they are ganders though. They like to hang out with people! :)
