You are a very evil human being! Why would you even put a horrible idea like this in my mind?

I may have to throw out the "shop" stools now!

What a nice day today!! I really wanted to get the cycle out for a ride but all my buddies had excuses. Hope your ride is a good one blanchranch!

The chickens are enjoying to light breeze and digging holes in the garden to dust in.

How my day has been going:

Yesterday I split up two clusters of peonies and moved them around (the green spikes in the middle of the fresh compost). Then I moved most of the rocks. Those came out of the granary and I think this was a good use of them. In the middle section under the "tower" we will put sand and then do something with hens and chicks in planters (old rusted chicken waterers). I have a bunch of spring blooming bulbs order, so those will go in here along with perennials I bought this summer and need to get in there quick. I will likely put some annuals in for color, but this is mostly going to be a perennial garden. And with the hooks still up from the swings, we can hand or trellis things up those as well. The tree on the front end is a Japanese lilac we got this Spring. All compost is from the chicken poop/litter and grass clippings and any dead birds and bad eggs that didn't hatch, and any scraps the chickens don't get. It is pretty nice stuff, but I keep finding bones in it LOL.

I guess the new chicken hoop will get done tomorrow.

I hope everyone got a chance to enjoy the beautiful day!!

I have Africans and I did not have any issues with their knobs freezing. I only give them enough water to drink, clear their noses and wash with, no swimming or dunking in the winter. I let them free range during the day as much or as little as they wanted and then locked them up at night in their house. If we were expecting extreme weather or temps I would cover the house with a tarp. This year I will move all water fowl to the barn and see if that works a tad easier for us and chore time. I had kept the ducks and geese separate last year.
Like previously stated I would try to close in a section just for the bantams and try to retain some of that heat you would be putting in there but make sure you have plenty of ventilation for that moist air to get out!! And having the water for the fowl outside will be a big help to keep the barn dryer.
Okay thanks! I think I will find some sort of heater for the bantams since it is a rather large coop. I put my birds inside at night and close the door, so I kind of have to have the water inside. Unless they would be okay overnight???

I have OEGBs and don't heat the coop. The only thing I do is if there is alot of moisture, I'll put bag balm or vasaline on their combs. My sister raises Seramas, which are even smaller (most if not all her breeders are less than a pound with many of her hens closer to half a pound) and she doesn't use heat except for some late hatches that aren't fully grown by the time the snow flies.
On the roosters and hens combs, or just the males? I'll post pics of them soon!

Hi Nathan Zee. .Welcome to the thread.

I had a crowing contest going on tonight between, my new unnamed rooster I got from Aussigal and Junior. Neither one should be entering a crowing contest. Each in their own cage. They even got Ed answering them from the Gulag.

Just to change things up I had a Corona instead of Lemonade tonight during Chicken TV time. The boys were entertaining.

Aussiegal My wife approves of the new chickens!

They will be just fine overnight, so long as they had water during the day.

Wow this weather can stay as long as it likes. I had to go pick up a small trailer by Blue Lake so I took a little extra time to swing by Ralphie's Camp Day Extravaganza. It was great to put a face & name to an avatar. They were doing so well that by helping would be like tossing a cog into a well oiled machine. It was great to meet the dear woman that keeps Ralphie in line; you're a saint Judy!

It was great to have Ralphie bring that beautiful Creamer roo over. Chicken talk, beer, more chatter, life is good. Will post picts later.
