Sweet Mother of God I have tears rolling down my face laughing at that second review so hard...I can hardly stand it.

So sugar free greases the pipes. gross.

But I can tell you for a fact the VERY OPPOSITE is true of corn syrupy ones. Uff-dah.

We've had this discussion before and I got sniggered at a bit....

But I profoundly believe that the loss of a flock mate does indeed affect those birds. I don't know where my little factoid check off thingy is...but it's something like chickens cognitive recognition is up there. It's greater than a 3 year old human's. They can recognize up to 80 or 108 (I can't remember) flock mates.

Personally I've had hens fall off laying due to me culling an extra rooster and after predation of a broodermate (Fiona my CLB--has not laid since her sister disappeared memorial weekend.)

I am with BC, that is hilarious and so sad all at the same time. Someone needs to tell the DoD that we don't need any more fighters or bombers or drones, just hand out free sugar-free gummi bears to our enemies! They will be crying for mercy within an hour!!!

I defiantly believe the bit about many different focalizations. I am constantly amazed by the different sounds they make. My all time favorite is their cooing and purring on the roost. That absolutely makes my night when I close up the coop and get to hear that. It's the chicken version of snoring I suppose but it is literally an aural stress cleanser! You can't have a bad attitude when you hear that! That and I still smile when I hear them sing the egg laying song during the day :)

Too bad my old hen, Henry wasn't still around, I bet she would change your mind about that 'egg song' bit. She would drown out any rooster crowing after she laid one. I hated that hen.

Firmly believe in the chicken bond as well.

There are certain ones we always see together.

In German "Ein Asch und eine Seele", translated, one *** and one soul.

Funny story, yesterday my mother was collecting eggs and came upon Napoleon mating with a BuffOrp. She swatted him off but the Orp stayed in 'position', my mother started stroking her back and consoling her. She was amazed that the Orp didn't run away. I told her that despite previous observations the Orp was a very willing participant and my mother was probably fueling her fire...

It takes a lot of work to keep them gleaming white. You not only have to deal with the brassiness but any staining on foot feathers and by the beard if they are a messy eater. Kudos to all who successfully show them (and have taught me over the years too).

I will be looking for a silkie come this spring for the wife. This one is unbelievable.
