Minnesota!

There was an interesting lady standing next to me yakking away while we waited yesterday. She went on and on about how many stores she went to and what she was interested in... then it got awkward. She started making really off comments about 'how you never see black people out shopping on black friday' it made everyone very uncomfortable and she kept making follow up comments like 'I'm part american indian, so im not a racist' as if that made it better. We all basically turned away from her and ignored her.

There are plenty of idiot people on a normal day, but things like Black Friday just bring them out in droves.
I prefer to do my shopping online, especially if I have to do it around this time of year. I got some good deals on Gap yesterday for a couple of my kids' clothes that they just need, 50% off!

And here's where I store my straw... Our local hardware store that sells straw bales gives away all of the loose straw that ends up on the shed floor so we go get a truck load whenever they're doing that. So, free straw stored in a box made of free crates!
It's even more redneck than the coop, but it's hidden away pretty good. And c'mon. Free stuff!!

Not good. Sorry you had to deal with that.

Am amazed at how calm the flock is this morning. The four remaining roosters are mellow. No hens being repeatedly ganged up on.

I'm thinking one of the four will step up into the Alpha-Rooster role?

Here are some shots of my snowmobile crate-to-coop conversion

It's kind of redneck, but it sure has come in handy!

These are awesome! i think i might make mine into a segregation pen (aka chicken hospital) so i have somewhere to put sick/injured birds

i just brought a leghorn hen into the house in a dog crate today. she is in a heavy molt and seems real sluggish. figured some warmth and good food paired with alone time might perk her up. she got a can of tuna to snack on. this is what makes me think to build the aforementioned pen.

Also, i might call the local snowmobile/atv dealer and see if they have any crates
