Minnesota!

We live in west central MN too! We are right in between Fergus and Alex right of 94. Where abouts are you?

Where you an Arrow, Tiger, Worrior, CHARGER, or closer to the Cardnals or Otters area?

There is a thread with MN swap dates: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/614884/mn-swap-dates-for-2012#post_8460761 There are usually a lot of different pigeons at both the New Ulm and Hutchinson swaps. Some rabbits and house birds. The auction in Pierz on March 31st usually has a TON of rabbits, some house birds but few if any pigeons.

Yes, I've been in contact with some of the ppl at both New Ulm and Hutchinson events. They've given me a great deal of insight as to what I could expect at each of the locations & based on the month of the event.

South Dakota doesn't allow SWAPS thanks to our state vets. So either you have to know someone who knows someone, or go out of state to find them. I finally resorted to biting the bullet and am buying a young male finch at minicritters in Sioux Falls. He gets his from a local breeder, so it works out, I guess. Better then going to PetSmart and paying out a great deal more for the same type of bird but with no knowledge of who bred the bird or where it was bred.

Still planning a trip though to New Ulm for the April event. Its our "girls day out" event for my granddaughters & daughter & myself. Looking forward to it!

Looks like lots of Minnesotans with chickens! I will be joining the chicken-owning group this spring. I'm in the west metro, just near Minneapolis! We are starting with only two or three hens and hoping for a fun time with them!

I see NO Minnesotans posted yesterday. Could that be because it was 65 DEGREES HERE?

I went to an early dog class and then I was outside all day, raking out the coop, and then pruning a couple of apple trees that were 20 ft high that had never been pruned. After that I took the dogs into town to walk up and down the sidewalks by the lake as being the cleanest place to walk with all the snowmelt. Then I sat on my deck and drank a beer in the sunset. Sigh, it was a wonderful day..
