Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining. We have something in common (besides chickens) as I am a teacher (retired 6 years now) as well. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Glad you joined our flock. How old are your roos? Young cockerels develop more confidence as they age, especially when their hormones start raging. I have yet to see a rooster that is a real mensch - but, then a lot of men fall short too.

Thanks, all!

All three roos roost together and Sebastian (not my fault) is being a mensch - putting the moves on the ladies on day two!

Now, the 7 day candling has me concerned - I'm rusty and new to dark eggs too, but only one really good vein view and few dark embryo spots...how long dare I leave a possible dud in the incubator before it goes boom?
