Miracle- Hello! guinea/chicken crossbreed

artsyrobin please tell Mena to come back. I don't use Facebook, twitter, whatever - with my big mouth and frequent confessions I don't need to go world wide. The chicken people are fine but that's my limit.

Does she still have the chickens and guineas, would you know if she is working on the book . Maybe she is feeling it's too painful to come back to us since Miracle is gone. We do miss her.

i'll let her know, she just gets busy- byc is alot better than facebook in my opinion- i pop over there to check on family, but most of my time is spent right here.... people of like mind here..

Hello from Miracle,
frow.gif

Sorry I have been gone for so long. I have been trying to tell stories but Mena has been ignoring me. Please forgive her because she has been really busy helping to take care of her parents.

Once I wanted to tell you about one of the chicks who grew up with a broken toe and a bad attitude. Her toe was broken at the hatchery. Her voice is very deep and was that way even as a day old chick. We looked in the box from the hatchery and we heard her but coudn't tell which chick was making that sound. I just knew that whichever chick it was was surely a rooster but she wasn't! When she got big enough to lay eggs she went broody! Right away! All she could think about was sitting on that nest. Not sitting on eggs - just the nest. To her eggs just make the nest lumpy and uncomfortable. When any of us birds got near her nest she would cluck her big deep cluck at us to scare us away. She would blow herself up just like a big orange Buff Orpington basketball. When she got off the nest and Mena came around she would blow herself up and glare at Mena's shoes. Oh, I forgot to tell you her name. It's Pissy.

The wind is blowing hard outside tonight. I'm so glad we are locked up in the coop but I can still hear it blowing! Maybe March is getting ready to come in like a lion.

The pear trees are blooming and green grass is starting to come up. Spring Spring Spring!

Thanks for missing me!

Goodbye for now.

Whoopee, thank you - so very, very happy to have you and Mena back where you belong. That is a really neat story. Who picked out the name for Pissy? That is one name I know I have never come across on this forum. Sounds like the story "The Princess and the Pea," she couldn't stand to have anything irritate her either. You know chickens(or dogs, or humans) who are bland and go thru life without any ups and downs - are rather forgettable. But you NEVER forget the ones that have adventures.

The wind is blowing hard here and we are having thunder, rain may turn to ice (hate that) or more snow. March will definitely come in like a lion this year. But I think winter has just about given up the fight.

We were finally seeing grass but got more snow on Saturday. Soon it will be time to plant my Miracle garden, and look for the purple Wave petunias you like so well.
Will send Mena photos to show you when I am able to plant them.

PS I hear Mena is on facebook, are you on also Miracle?Any hope for your stories to be published? If word got on on Facebook, I'm sure it would soar to Best Seller list in no time. Love you guys, please don't be strangers to BYC.

Hello Mena:

Although I no longer post on back yard chickens, I still get on every once in a great while. Mostly to look up Miracle and a few
other people I got to know. Glad to see that you are doing good.
I still have my birds and they are now just loving the spring. It is nice to have the farm back alive again with the crazy Rasp of
Guineas I have.

G.G.

This was the first thread I ever read on BYC. In my opinion, it is the best thread here. I'm glad you bumped it back to life. I'm sure many of the newer members will enjoy it. I hope they have a sufficient supply of tissues.
