A misconception that I've heard...
Roosters only crow in the morning. Somebody PLEASE tell my two roosters that!

Then there is: Brown eggs come from cage free chickens, brown eggs taste better, brown eggs come from chickens that eat bugs, and brown eggs have more/less calories.

Random fact buried in the back of my brain:

When margarine first was introduced it had a yellow dye streak that had to be worked through the entire package in otder to distribue the yellow color.

I believe the margarine colour thing was based on the dairy industry's attempt to preserve their market share when cheaper margarine became available. To appease them, margarine was not allowed to be sold coloured yellow. Instead it would come with a dye packet the consumer could mix in to make it look more appetising.

A widely believed misconception that I've heard is that green and blue eggs from EE's etc. have more nutritional value than other eggs.

my stepmom was raised on eating eggs fresh from chickens. now she wont touch them and says there "nasty"

i told her i would rather have fresh eggs especially when i read in grit magazine that store bought eggs can be up to SIX MONTHS OLD!

Ok, I have a new neighbor and today was her birthday celebration. She and many friends piled into a limo earlier today and returned late this afternoon. A couple of people ambled back to the section of fence where they were able to see through and view the Delightful Dozen. Here are a couple of the comments. "You have, like a whole family." and "Is the white one an albino?" I am not sure they understood my reply to the question when I said, "No, she is a white Easter Egger." They did not ask any more questions, but they wandered away after a few more minutes. LOL

Ok, it has been dark here for at least an hour, and more of the party goers have come to the shared fence to "see the chickens". Said chickens, are all in the coop and sound asleep, LOL.

* (From my childhood) feeding chickens chocolate causes brown eggs. From my brother, once the hen lays the egg you need a rooster-- to fertilize the laid egg (like fish, right??)
