Missing Guineas!

I was finally able to get a close-up of one of the Royals and you are able to see the coloring a little bit better plus that cedar WView attachment 1234727 ing that I was talking about.

That one is a Bronze which is a variation of a Royal Purple. I have a really hard time telling Bronze and Royal Purple keets apart but once they have their adult plumage you can see the difference.

Ah... thank you for the clarification. The person who sold them to me sold them as Royals. I've only had Pearls up until this summer, so that's what I thought I had.

Perhaps this male (in the next post - have to send from my phone) is a Bronze pied then? Based on what you have said, I don't think I have ANY Royals then, I have two Bronze females, one pied Bronze female and two Bronze pied males.

To be fair, it is very difficult to tell the difference between a Bronze and a Royal Purple when they are keets. The only difference is that the Bronze keets are slightly darker than the Royal Purple keets.

Without seeing a side view of the whole guinea, I would not even attempt a guess at what your pied guinea is.

That one is a Pied Royal Purple. The black wing feathers give it away and the partial dotting distinguishes it from a Pied Pearl.

This is a very sad story! So sorry to hear about this. We lost a turkey hen in a very similar manner. Its always terribly upsetting to deal with such gruesome loss.

now im finding the odds, about laying.
here, most guineafowl usually lay from july to november,and early december sometimes. yesterday one of the hens lay an egg!! on january, never happened before, i hope shell replace the lost bunch if she'll lay a complete clutch
