Mission Control...we have LIFTOFF!!! Ooops, I mean LOCKDOWN!

The bator is getting noisy, but I still can't see anything. I am keeping myself busy by getting the brooder ready and just generally tidying the house. I just wish I could see some evidence they are okay. The humidity is holding steady, although I have wrestled with it today to keep it up and it won't budge past 64, but the temp did bump up to 100 today and staying there. It has been a consistent 99 over the past three days.

Okay, hatching buddies....I have one egg that now has liquid under it. Do you know if this is normal? I asked on the hatching thread, but the hatchers must be at work today. If it is normal, how is it going to breathe? The peeping seems like it is getting louder, but since I can't see anything I have no idea which one it is making the noise. I'm assuming it's the one with the liquid under it.

waiting for the news, it's the 17th

OK, JAKEWELDER, I will tell my chicks to hurry up and hatch!

Just kidding

The wait is driving me crazy!
I still just have those 2 little pips.

WHOLEWHEATCHICKEN, that is awesome that your chicks are making noise. Are they peeping inside their shell? Have you seen any pips yet? My humidity is running right around 65-70%. I don't know what to do with myself so I'm cleaning my son's room. (that should take me all day.) I started getting the brooder ready the other day, but now I don't want to "count my chickens before they hatch"! I should have more faith in these little chicks.

Hey wholewheatchicken, I just saw your question. I found this thread which might be helpful -not sure if I uploaded it correctly, but you could always do a search of the title. You might just wait before intervening, though. It is still early. Can you see if there is a pip on the bottom of the "liquidy" egg?

That didn't look good. I tried to gently tilt the box so the egg would roll off of that liquid, but it didn't budge much. All the other eggs went for a ride though. I would think I would have to move it off of that stuff or else it would stick to it and that would surely be the end of it. I don't think I will open the bator up though, just try a little more to move it. It just happened a short time ago.

I think I might have figured it out. I think it might have been consensation from the top dripped down on the egg. I did finally get the egg to move out of the liquid and the liquid is clear and there is no hole or crack or anything else in it. But with moving all of them, I think I irritated the one who is trying to hatch because the egg took a huge wobble after I stopped. Today there is more condensation on the top of the incubator, but I read that was normal. I haven't vented it because it's not too bad, unless it starts pooling on the floor!

What kind of incubator do you have? If you have one with little windows, you could have a warm, wet washcloth ready as you quickly open a window. The washcloth will give off humidity and warmth while you pick up and turn the leaking egg so the pip is on top. You might even mist the egg lightly with WARM water and set it in a different/clean spot.

Just a thought...........keep us posted.
