Mississippians (and all others) Merry Christmas (and merry all other holidays) I wound up with a mixed pen of 49 chickens and have pared down to 23 hens and 3 roos.

Most of what I gave away were roos.Never ever going for the unsexed lot because they are cheaper!!! Still have 1 more roo to give away a auburn Sumatra (I think) He is a late bloomer..
I have been getting between 16-24 eggs a day.I got them April 3rd so they are young. I supplement the lighting giving them 16 hours of light a day and they seem to be a pretty happy lot. Ha they come running to the fence with the dogs anytime we step into the yard. This is a picture of my chicken keeper dogs cocker spaniels and some of my chickens. They all live together on 1/3 acre. I have had no problems with predators at all. ALtho we did have an amadillo get in the pen She was very glad to leave. The dogs had her all rolled up..

Flora MS, I kinda got into RID's myself all hens no rooster yet can't decide what I want but I would like to mix it up a bit..Any suggestions are welcome i'm kinda new to this I was raised up around chickens all my life just never had my own lol.

That is really good idea having the dogs in with the chickens the only problem I would have my dog would eat all my chickens lol...
