I have a RIR RC Bantam. His rear end is bald. I examind him and noticed at the base of his feathers are white clumps. They dont move. Ive put Drops on him and gave him baths for mites but there not going away...what are they and how do i get rid of them??

If it is warm enough, I use adams flea and tick dip for the birds. IT works at 1/2 strength.
You re-treat 7 days later just like you would for children that have head lice.. . .
The second re-treat is for hatching eggs.

I dip mine in a 5 gallon bucket of water, SQUEEZE the excess water out of the feathers, and then let them free range in a sunny area. I do it early in the morning so that by bed time they are fully dry. Doing this on a HOT dry helps them deal with the heat too...

ok where do u get that oil?? ive never heard of it

I found mine in a health food store. It looks like lard but warms quickly to liquid. I put some in a baby food jar and floated it in really warm water till it melted. I put it on the egg casings with a q-tip. In a day or two I looked again and the egg casings were gone. Those things were driving me nuts looking at them.

In the olden days of the 1920's and 1930's before chemical treatment, my mother said that people would put lard on their kids heads to kill lice and nits, so you wonder if the airless environment of grease has something to do with suffocation of the eggs?
