Mixed breeds

Pics

This is Claireese Daffodil Rose (grandson named her) and her brood of 8. They hatched 6-21-15. Claireese is Buff Orpington x Gold Laced Wyandotte. She is a VERY protective mama. She is one year old and this is her first brood. She hatched all 8 eggs we gave her! She hardly left the nest at all. I worried about her the whole time she was sitting.

The chicks fathers are either an Easter Egger OR a Buff Orpington x Australorpe mix.

3 chicks mom is a Black Copper Marans who lays chocolate colored eggs and has slightly feathered legs. We think we have spotted feathers on at least 2 black chicks legs.
3 chicks moms are Cream Legbars. (We have 4 CL hens, each lay the same blueish eggs.)
2 chicks came from brown eggs and their moms could be either GLW, SLW, RIR, BA, or BO.
It will be interesting trying to make guesses on these!

The little chestnut colored chick directly in from of Mom's chest has a white spot on top of it's head. We are
wondering if maybe that one is a CL mix ROO???? If that sex linked trait passed to him?

Isn't hatching season GREAT !

Just beautiful. Aren't Momma hens the greatest?

Yes, she is a good mama. Today they ran up around my feet. I was expecting her to puff all up but she just walked over and watched them and clucked a bit. I felt honored, lol I was allowed this close. She's a real fussy girl if you get too close. lol

I have several different breeds too and would love some help identifying. I first started with 7 straight run cross between Rhode Island Red and? Some look like Sussex and Americauna. No one really knows. Then I brought home a mix with Barred Rock and added White Rock and Red Comets. One of my hens went broody and we now have a true mix of three babies. One is mottled red and black, another mottled brown and black, and this one is white and black. She / he looks just like one of our other hens (spitting image almost) whereas the other two are really mixed chicks. Felix (or Felicity) was born May 21st. This baby is the youngest of the three and has the most red crown which is why I wonder. This chick is incredibly docile. What do you think it is?

Does anyone have pictures of mixed Rhode Island Red w/light brahmas w/plymouth rocks w/Buff Orphingtons... Thanks!!!

I'm doing a funky chicken experiment. I have a black Jersey Giant Roo and a Phoenix roo, then 5 Cinnamon Queens, 4 leghorns, one bantam Sumatra, one phoenix and two egyptian fayoumis. With the two broody hens that I have right now, I just put random eggs under them and am crossing my fingers. Who knows what I'll get because the two roos get along with each other and both mate the hens. I'm looking forward to seeing what I may get.

hi , please guide me .
i've 1 white cochin rooster , 1 buff (golden cochin ) rooster , 1 buff hen , 1 black cochin hen AND 1 white ameraucana hen .
i've grown them together and now they are of the age of around 6 months .
white cochin rooster has started sexual activities with all 3 hen including white ameraucana hen .
WILL it affect the buff and black cochin hen eggs regarding any kind of mixing to next generation chicks as they are not in proper pair ?
what white ameraucana hen will produce ?
only buff hen has started laying eggs .
buff rooster is still growing .
