Mixed breeds

Yeah, I'm pretty soft-hearted when it comes to animals. I know it would be tough for me. I'm not very squeamish, though, so that's good. When my roo died, I choked up some even though we didn't want him at the time. When I was in middle school, I helped do a mercy killing of a maggot infested chicken at my friend's house. I felt awful even though I knew it was for the best.

I got a mixed breed that is a cross from a male buff Orpington and an Easter egger. I named hime speckles. I don't understand though. Both of the parent are a golden color with the Easter egger having some grey feathers around her neck. But speckles turned out to be an all white chick except for some black around his neck

They can be weird, my buff orpington got caught by a barred rock rooster and the chick turned out white with a few grey feathers but otherwise looks the hen looks like an orpington

I don't think she was caught by the Barred Rock if the chick turned out white with black specks. Something would have had to be white to create that.

only 2 options for Rooster there a Barred Rock or a Rhode Island Red. and Barrred Rocks are white and black

What age bird are we talking about that is white with a few gray feathers. Is this a "chick" with down that is starting to feather out? Or is this now a hen? I'm confused. If it is a chick...that color may change.

hatched end of April, getting ready to start laying soon it's a hen

Well then either the rooster is not pure for barred or you buff isn't pure for the buff color.

Dray thats where you are wrong the hen would not get the true barring of a Barred rock as it takes both the hen and rooster being that to get true barring. she has a few feathers that are lighter and scattered

I don't think so. I've breed too many from barred roosters. I've never seen solid white ( black flecks) show up in any other color other than breeding to White ( dominant white) hens. I've gotten many barred and have gotten other colors.

can you get a picture of that pullet? A picture of the rooster (dad) would be good also.
