Mixed breeds

Could have picked up some recessive genes, or could be the result of a mutation. I'd like to see a picture, too. Very interesting.

I don't think so. I've breed too many from barred roosters. I've never seen solid white ( black flecks) show up in any other color other than breeding to White ( dominant white) hens. I've gotten many barred and have gotten other colors.

can you get a picture of that pullet? A picture of the rooster (dad) would be good also.
will get a good one of the pullet asap been really busy this week, the only one I have is from 2 months ago after she was attacked but heres her dad and the one I have now will get new one tomorrow and post a full body one

the chick was from the buff standing up hatch

I don't know. I've never seen this happen. BTW: I couldn't tell for sure, but does that rooster have a rise comb?

I have to agree here.

the Rooster lost his comb last winter as we are northern states, actually both roosters did, sorry just got coffee lol. she sure don't like the camera or hold still very well, sorry was cell phone camera and ain't the best. doesn't show but she's only got a couple feathers that show from the dads side. Will find a picture before he lost his comb, they were pretty
l

little pic is when we first got him and the other was fall of last year while he still had his full comb

Could just be that both parents carry recessive white. I have gotten barred offspring from white rock hens bred to another breed. They would look like a barred rock but would, of course, carry the recessive white gene and be capable of producing white chicks with other carriers.

Thats interesting as got the BO's from a breeder. last fall they bred they produced this and the breeder wanted one as this one was already promised to my niece, gradiated from white head to black tail and not one turned out like that same rooster and BO hen

I guess the saying "never say never" applies here. I'm going to have to agree that both obviously carry ressive white. That's fine about the comb. I just couldn't see it very well.

Lol well sometimes cell camera don't take the best pictures, couldn't be the one taking them didn't have enough coffee yet, and that rooster is mean, but good protector of the flock for free ranging only time he lets ya close is if he's gonna kick someones seat end for upsetting his hens lol.

Can time of year affect how they turn out when crossing them? or is it just random, the others in both hatching were pretty consistent but didn't get a picture as they were picked up as 2 day olds, seems get one oddball one that is unique outta each one

I have a rooster with very similar feathering. Unfortunately, he is starting to show random Brown feathering. Thats interesting as got the BO's from a breeder. last fall they bred they produced this and the breeder wanted one as this one was already promised to my niece, gradiated from white head to black tail and not one turned out like that same rooster and BO hen

The rooster I got that has some colorful feathering was actually a barred rock rooster on a black sexlink hen, at 4 months he's as big as his dad and still doing some growing but lighter weight still. he's got some brown/gold and a blue/green in the black tail feathers. Here is junior, only roo outta 13 that the community brood hens hatched.
