Mixed breeds

the dark ones are nhr x Andalusia , the light ones are Delaware x Andalusia 3 weeks old not sure of the sex

Anyone know what a Swedish flower hen x lavender bantam cochin would make? I have a lavender bantam cochin roo in with several bantam and 1 SFH. I wonder if the mottling from the SFH would transfer to the chick or it would be all black

Unless the other parent carries mottling, the mottling most likely will not come through. It takes two copies to show. When you breed the offspring together or back to the mottled parent you will get some with mottling.

Well just read all 53 pages over the last two days and can't believe all the amazing and cool chickens I found here. I'm just starting out with chickens but I'm dreaming of the mix breeds I might have.

Pure bred chickens are great, but it's kind of like copying someone's painting/artwork breeding to an existing standard. Personally, I love mixed breeds and selecting the traits that I want, the traits that I find useful or fun!
