So it sounds like the frame idea is still too small...
and that separating them is better.

This is the quail section. 3 weeks is about right for quail. Agreed that it’s not a great idea. Coturnix can still be vicious to unfamiliar birds of any age.6 weeks.
My bad, I thought this was chickens we were talking about. This is the quail section. 3 weeks is about right for quail. Agreed that it’s not a great idea. Coturnix can still be vicious to unfamiliar birds of any age.
For quail chicks? For that many chicks you need *at least* 60 square ft (preferably 120 square ft) for raising them, five times that once they are big. If you're gonna mix them, you need to make sure that the little ones have a place they can get to that the big ones can't, with both food and water so they aren't prevented from eating and drinking. Having the heat source there would probably also be a good idea, since the 6 week olds won't need it.
For quail chicks?
That's what I thought, boy you had me confused for a while googling like crazy. No, I too made the mistake of not paying attention to where I was...it's a fault, honestly. For quail chicks you need I think ~.25 sq foot while raising (though you can get away with less when they're under two weeks), around a foot when grown.
NopeCan I put (50) 2 week old chicks in the same pen as (10) 6 week old hens?
