MJ's little flock

Following from this...

I'm recuperating from a very stressful hour.

I couldn't find the hens. I called out to the neighbour who joined the hunt. We searched everywhere. I called and called.

I thought dogs had taken them.

I thought hawks had taken them.

Neither. They had taken a walk and were found two houses up the street, under a hedge, digging for bugs.

To get them home, I walked up front with a lettuce and the neighbour herded from behind.

They're in their small temporary yard for the rest of the day.

Now I need a hour or two to regenerate my joy.
I am so glad you found them safe. It is a terror that seizes your heart when they disappear. :hugs:hugs

Good for you MJ!

It brings to mind this quote:

"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play the one string we have, and that is our attitude...

I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
And so it is with you... we are in charge of our Attitudes.
"

I'm afraid I don't know who said it.
That is well said. :goodpost:

The sooner the hens' new run is finished, the better.

 Welcome to my world. :p The good news is chickens are pretty smart & yours were found safe & sound ~ but it incredibly heart wrenching for those moments or minutes when you don't know where they are. Glad it was a good outcome!

The temporary yard is much bigger now and the smaller space has so far not caused any anxiety or tension among the hens. For now we'll stick to that but I'll keep an eye on their moods.

The other news is that Cillin and Roostie have me thinking about bumbles, so when Janet squatted today, I took the opportunity to inspect her feet and found them clean and healthy :)

Here they are this morning just before they ran off to join the circus.
