MJ's little flock

The temp is going up to 38c today, which is around 100f.

I've got to spend the morning away from home.

The hens are in the funrun. I've left the hose trickling under their shady tables so that a cool muddy patch will develop. There's plenty of drinking water too.

I hope they'll be ok. Mary especially, because she sort of melts in the heat.

I'll be home just after noon, so I'll be able to ice the drinking water at that point.

I'm sure they'll be fine.
You will be in home in plenty of time. They will be fine.

Talk about temperature differences. It's like your on the other side of the world or something! 😉

Oh, MJ! That is so worrying! I'm sure they'll be just fine but I hate when the temps go that high. We've been blessed with a wet mild summer so far. The girls really appreciate it. They hate the super hot weather.
I'm sure they will be ok, but I can't help worrying.

I think they will be OK. It got close to that a couple of days this summer here. I put out some frozen yoghurt and ice cubes in the water and they were fine for most of the day. And you will be back by noon.
One idea I settled on was making mega-ice cubes using containers you use for food in the fridge. I would pop one of those out for them in their water bowl and let it melt. It provided cold water for quite a while even in those temperatures.
Or I could air-freight you some snow! :lau

Mine too. We’ve only really had two stinking hot days, for which I am grateful.
