MJ's little flock

Even with her full tail, she's still quite round in profile. All the Australian Australorps have those curled over tails that softly cascade down.

I've looked up some photos of show standard Australorps.

I think this gentleman might be bantam.

But this lady is a standard.

And there are more pictures of prize winning Australorps here.

They're usually quite round in profile.

It strikes me as odd when people claim a chickem with an upright tail is an Australorp. But that's how much the standards differ. Makes you think about what a "breed" is.
Exactly why my decision to give up learning breeds is completely rational.
It is a made-up concept! :lau

I was imagining no shower cubicle at all, just a big wet room with a shower in one corner, the bath along one wall, and a long gutter drain along one wall. A basin somewhere too. Which is not how you'd do it for a family, but it'd very safe for old people. And the house will be lived in by old or middle aged people without children for the next 50-80 years (assuming my beneficiaries age out), so the bathroom will work until it needs replacing.
Sounds rather like a traditional Japanese bathroom, which is what we want.
The Japanese have extremely civilised ideas on modern plumbing. One washes before getting in the bathtub which keeps the water heated while you soak and the toilets have a built in bidet.

A few weeks ago I decided to share photos instead of stories if I'd managed to take some that could be shared or shared after a little resizing.

It's because I'm running out of chicken stories. The hens are very settled and happy. There's been no work on the funrun. I've already ranted about the sparrows, finches and pigeons. Janet is laying the same as always, 3-4 a week. Peggy is laying 4-5 a week. Mary and Ivy are not laying right now. They're eating well and look healthy, except for Mary who's moulting.

And I'm loving the steady, easy normality. No stress. No worries. Just delightful little hens living well.
It's lovely having no dramas or alarums! 🤗♥️

Pepper is supposed to be part Australorp.
I'm not seeing it....

I... don't see it either. She's quite a dark colour but she doesn't look black in this photo - is she black?

To me she looks a little like Ribh's campines in her profile. Except their tails are very upright.
