MJ's little flock

You are sweeter than me! After all these years of wild freeloaders I would be telling them to take a hike 😅 saying that I do love me some sparrows, they are cute 🥺
Sparrows are cute but I grew to dislike them as I entered into the bluebird program. The sparrows are what almost drove the native bluebirds to extinction here in the states. They took the bluebirds nesting locations and had harder beaks than bluebirds and would thus beat them when fighting over nests. The sparrows will build their nests on top of blue bird eggs. 🐦

I eventually got them to live in harmony at my house by putting 1 bluebird box 4 feet off the ground for the sparrows to use next one 6 feet away and 6 feet off the ground for the bluebirds.

I am so enjoying the bluebirds this year but have just discovered some bird has pecked a hole in my roof soffit and laid a nest inside.
I have to watch for activity before asking my favorite tradie to repair the soffit.

I wonder what bird it is?

Sussex were meant to be very ‘chatty’ I believe but my girls are quiet as mice compared to the ISA’s! The most noise recently was when Belle decided to ‘fly’ along the ground from one side to the other for no apparent reason, squawking as she went 😂 Gave me a laugh if nothing else, she’s my ‘crazy’ to Snow’s placid.
No song for escort after eggs but Belle sits in on the perch with her while she is in the nest box EVERYTIME 🥰 so I’m guessing that’s why.
That's interesting. And somehow I got lucky with my four who make very little noise.
