MJ's little flock

We wiggled the half wine barrel into the funrun and I placed a couple of logs to act as a step ladder. The next task is to cut the right lid for it so very little rain gets in. Or put it on its side and block up the entrance somewhat.

I also cut a little piece of wood, painted it and attached it with cable ties to block off the latest sparrow superhighway. The pop door still opens up just fine.

As I tap out this message, there are no sparrows in the funrun.
They really are clever and force you to be just as clever. Have you not have sort of enjoyed the contest?

That barrel could have an umbrella planted in it or attached to the side, or an awning attached to the frame above it. Either could look very pretty and keep off the rain (and sun). Just an idea.
The hens have a big sun umbrella but they find it frightening. Even after weeks they didn't go under it. I think it triggers the "yikes that's a huge and strange eagle" response.

That is so cool. Seeing the humpback whales was one of the great experiences of my life.
I was once caught in a spray of seawater a blue whale had blown out. The wind was strong out there and the boat was downwind of her. Utterly wonderful.

That was off the Margaret River region.

Wow. While I wait for shrubs to grow in the chicken yard I have put in a big patio or beach umbrella and mine seem to like it. They definitely use the shade and they have developed a fascination for pecking on the stand which is metal so it makes a loud 'bong' every time they peck. :lau

I was just at my mum and dads for breakfast and thought you might like their new dinner set MJ 🤷🏻‍♀️
