MJ's little flock

I can wait. Is the painting OK?
It's ok. I may do a third coat on 2 of the pieces. I thought I was being clever and bought the cheapest lumber but wow, it drank the first coat of paint and then one of them twisted. I should've bought the expensive wood to start with.

Anyway, there are two short pieces that still need painting, so I did one side of one piece this morning, I'll do the second coat this evening, then I'll do two coats on the other side tomorrow. Then I'll start over on the last piece. By the weekend, all of it should've been painted.

I don't yet have social commitments next weekend, so perhaps some construction will be achieved.

It's certainly easier if you get large gaps of hundreds of years between events. Did you know that Lauren Bacall was born the year before Angela Lansbury ?
I love it when it starts off and I have to put an ancient greek philosopher before Deep Purple :gig and then when did Shakespeare write Troilus and Cressida! Lovely start. So broad. No clusters.

Just writing this note to myself in case I forget this stuff by next weekend.
Lay it all out on the ground in situ before getting started then have a think in case changes are needed. Set the height of the floor a hand width higher than the wheelbarrow. The level of the back rail really matters! Set the height with the back rail first, then the side rails. Put some cup hooks in either end of the cross rail before attaching it to the side rails. To make levelling the cross rail easier, attach the brackets to the cross rail before attaching them to the side rails. To space the joists, do the middle joist first then the two either side.
