MJ's little flock

I wonder if a satnav is a good idea for you, for when there's an emergency. It would have a learning curve, but at least you'd have more independence when needed.
I have WAZE on my phone for emergencies & have been dithering about a NAVMAN for ages. I'm just stingy because I would use it so little justifying the cost is hard for me but as you say ~ in an emergency...

I've just checked on Sandy again and she had obviously tucked into her food and then I saw her take another proper sip of the medicated water. Then she sat down in the sun. Her comb is still red. The other two are going about their usual business of digging, eating, chatting.

Oh, @MaryJanet prayers for your Sandy... and so thankful you have a reliable chicken vet to see! Hoping for a speedy recovery for her.

I’ve now written down your thread and am going to put a note on my whiteboard to remind me to check in! I’m glad your bathing experience was a success.

As to the sailing with chickens idea... I can see it working. Andrew and I considered just buying a nice sailboat at first when moving to the farm... that way if/when the relatives got to be too much we could just sail off somewhere tropical. Sometimes we regret not having done that. One of the concerns we discussed was my escape artist cats always trying to get outside at inopportune times. My solution... “a dip net, and I bet they would only try that once!” I imagine it would be similar for chooks ;)

Thanks @Kris5902 I've had to come in to the office for a couple of commitments, so I hope to find her even stronger when I get home. All she can do in the big coop is eat, drink, poop, and rest. I think those three things will help her get back to normal.

Good morning rjohns39

Sandy was very active first thing this morning, so that's good news. She wanted to be let out of the little coop. I've seen her play with the medicated water a couple of times, then she took a sip on her third go. The other two have been guzzling it.

For now, to escape Janet's bullying, Sandy is in the big coop with her own food and water while the other two are out in the yard. I think Sandy will need to rest much more than the others so keeping her apart will give her a chance to do that without being picked on.

So glad she made it through the night :yesss:

I agree. :yesss::highfive:

Also, she didn't poop during the night so maybe the metritis has brought on a mild attack of the broodies? Very odd. Usually she poops through the night as we'd expect.

Is she eating a normal amount? I would bet not. It may just be that.
