MJ's little flock

No rain, but it's windy and not at all hot.

I'm doing my budget and prioritising my future commitments. Boring but important.

Yes, well... the men in my life are taking apart my house. It's not real safe to move around too much. :D

She was very cute back then! Gawky and not yet comfy in her body. She was always misjudging her stride and her width. She took great and ponderous care when climbing up on the roost.

I may be repeating myself but I think her life with me is less painful than on the farm where she was born. I was shocked by how roughly the farmer handled her. And the other hens had pulled out many of her feathers. I didn't see where he kept the hens because he had her separated from the others when I arrived. He also behaved as though I was the first woman he'd ever spoken to - he talked non-stop and failed completely at listening.

I was relieved to get us both away from there.

Mary was nervous at first, but she quickly calmed down. She bowed to Janet on the first day but it was about a week before they were friends. They never really fought each other but there were lots of challenges from Janet and lots of bowing from Mary.

It was maybe 6 or 7 months later that Mary became Captain.

She's impressed! It's pouring here.:loveHope you are getting some of this lovely rain too. :)
I'm crocheting & trolling BYC feeling smug because my azaleas went in the ground yesterday.🥳

We've had a huge thunderstorm here at 4.30am. It just bucketed down then rained on and off for the rest of the day :wee

It's just started raining heavily again now. Unfortunately most of the azaleas that I planted last year have turned up their toes :hit

I believe she calls herself Queen Mary! Get it right.

Hooray for rain! I'm sorry for you azaleas. The rain has to be good news though.
