It's good to have a strategy.I'll let the others out first so they can be on the move before the marauders are set free. If I do it the other way around, the marauders will burst into the big coop while it's still occupied and cause havoc!
You asked how the flock is adjusting. I just posted this. Thanks for sharing the news RC![]()
is the flock adjusting? I imagine the little ones will miss her.

A lot of it is my sentimentality and needing to mark her passing - but I think what I observed of the flock on her last day is genuinely interesting from a chicken behavior point of view.
This is kinda what I was thinking.Of course eggs will become more expensive, but maybe eggs should be viewed as a treat.
Keeping the neighbours happy is bound to pay off one dayThis is kinda what I was thinking.
If we can't afford more humanely produced eggs maybe we shouldn't be eating egg. Or at least not as much as we do.
My pullets are slowly starting to lay and I am enjoying my fresh eggsIt might reach a point where I am getting too many eggs and if I do I want to give them to my family members, maybe some of the neighbours who so nicely put up with my roosters too
