MJ's little flock

Hello, how are things going for you?
They closed my work due to illness in the public schools. We have the young siblings so they decided it was for the best. Now I'm off until next Wednesday :(
I'm doing well thanks! My long holiday ended last week and when I opened my email there were 899 unread :thIf I'd started ten minutes later, it would've been 900. So that was one week gone. I've been getting some reading and writing done. Fortunately I haven't had any meetings, so I've been able to work at home which is nice, but today I've got a seminar and a medical appointment in the city, so I'm pondering my options for pullet safety. If I can persuade them, I'll put them in the henhouse and leave the big hens in the yard.

The roosting went ok last night. I relocated the pullets again. I might persist in relocating them for a week then if they're still roosting in the little coop, I'll shut them off and use a light like BY Bob suggested.

Other than the roosting, the pullets are doing very well. They're confident in the whole yard now and the hens' attitudes are softening every day. I'm very pleased with their progress :)

Wow, that's a lot of emails to go through. It's always nice to relax for a bit.

That's awesome about the pullets, I look forward to hearing more and of course seeing your pictures.

Thank you MJ! I'm trying to go easy on myself, but I get so frustrated that I can't do what I used to do.

On the plus side, Stanley did wonderful in school! I'll post some pictures soon. Everyone in the school knew he was coming, he had a greeting committee as soon as we walked in the door.

Stanley LOVED all of the attention. He let some 30 kids pet him at once. They hand fed him treats, and a few were even brave enough to pick him up. He was an absolute gentleman! He also crowed loud and proud many times!

This is a picture Anna's teacher took of her with Stanley. I just love her big smile!

That is the best. You take good care of that boy. A good rooster is precious commodity. That is so cool, those children were very lucky to meet him.

I am welling up with pride for him. What a great dude!

When we got in the car I just kept saying 'good boy Stanley, you were a very good boy'. When we got home he wanted to join his hens in a hurry, but I took him into the kitchen and opened a can of tuna for him. I let him eat as much as he wanted, ended up being half the can, and then I returned him to his hens. They were very happy to see him and there wasn't an ounce of issue with returning him to the flock after being gone all morning.

WOW! Going to school built up an appetite. That was so sweet to treat him like that. You are a good rooster owner.
