MJ's little flock

Today's the first day at work after my long break.

I thought it was an opportune moment to change to a fresh password. 4 calls to helpdesk later and I still can't access my files. Passwords are out of sync, so I'm locked out and waiting for a tech supporter to show up in person.

Luckily I printed some of my students' chapters to review so I can continue with some tasks, but in 45 minutes, I'll be at zero productivity with hands tied.

What a *great* way to start the year, not! :gig

The moral of the story: don't ever change my password again!!

How frustrating! I hope it didn’t take too long to get resolved.

This is what Jasper thinks of passwords:

Ugh. I hate changing passwords. My PC does face recognition but I have one from ‘work’ for when I do projects for them and that has the password that the IT department set so I probably should change it.

It took up half my day. Ridiculous. I'd prefer if I could schedule a change for midnight so it cascades through the systems while I'm asleep.

This is the worst of IT. Disparate systems and communication of a change fails. I wish you the best on getting everything recoordinated.

Today is forecast to be the first really hot day, 41C. Lately the forecasts fall short by a couple of degrees, so I think it'll go up to 43 or 44. A great day to let the hens go where they please and keep two hoses trickling in the shade.
We have been dancing around in the teens F, minus single digits C.we are definitely your opposite.

Yes! It needed quite a bit of problem solving from Angelo the IT guy. In addition to the change cascading through the systems, it turned out the network address of the docking station had to be manually typed into the password changing software. Meanwhile I'd spent a couple of hours fretting and second-guessing myself, thinking I was typing the new password incorrectly (the system doesn't have that helpful eye icon that shows the characters you've typed in). So I blamed myself and requested a password reset. Twice. All along it was the docking station address causing the problem.
