MJ's little flock

I'm sorry to say Peggy is not very clever.

But Sandy and Ivy have set my benchmark rather high, so maybe I'm being unfair.
It evens out the flock. Lavender's as thick as 2 planks but she evens out the too smart for their own good ones

After much kerfuffle, Peggy worked out how to use the new roosts (2nd and 3rd levels) to get all the way up to Ivy (4th level). Mary joined in and has decided to sleep on the 2nd level, even though it's a bit of a tight fit. Janet and Sandy are snuggled up on the first level.

Perfect. Great job relieving the roosting stress. You are really becoming a great caretaker. This integration has gone amazingly well.
:clap

Her size & feathering make her a bit on the clumsy side but honestly, I wonder sometimes if she got dropped on her head as a chick...? She makes a real to~do of the simplest things & is the meanest broody I've had.
Maybe that's where she makes up for it. If she's a mean broody she may well be a fighter along with it. That generally means her chicks have a better survival chance. Not much mileage in being smart if you can't defend your offspring.

Hmmm...:hmm Nothing has led me to believe she'd make a good mother. No staying power. Easily distracted. Prone to abandoning things halfway through. Soda now...there's a stubborn broody for you! Probably make an excellent mum. If our weather will co~operate she's going in broody jail ~ again!

Thinking back, I realised last night was only Peggy's fourth night in the henhouse and the roosts have changed every night. So she's more than entitled to a little confusion.

It seems like the four levels of roosts will work out, given a few more nights for Peggy to adapt.

On the other hand, I wonder if Mary is moulting? I'm not entirely certain, but I think she dropped a feather over night :gig

Good evening folks :frow

MJ you're doing great with them...
Thank you! I'm trying to be observant and work out what each chook's needs are. I'm not used to bantams though, so poor Peggy has to wait longer than the others for me to get the right idea.
