It is unfortunate that Glynda passed before Aster was grown. Aster is exhibiting many of the same behaviors as her mother outside of chasing Éowyn around the yard.I love this silhouettes, and all that they mean. Moving them to the run is a thoughtful way to say goodbye. I regret that Glynda did not see Aster grow up but I'm glad she experienced to be a mum.
The reason I commit to letting any hen that wants to hatch set a nest is because something similar happened to Maleficent. I broke her from her first broody in October thinking she would be able to sit again in the spring. She passed away before spring ever came. So now everyone gets to sit a nest when they want.
I am assuming you are using those to attach wire. If you are using them for hardware cloth, I recommend what we call deck screws with fender washers. Screws do not come out on their own and can be easily removed for repairs or alterations.(I don't know what their english name is) and both keep coming out and create potential hazards for the chickens. I'd like to find an alternative solution that either stays put or is less of an issue if it comes out.
This is a deck screw and fender washer.
Here they are in use attaching wire to the coop.
