MJ's little flock

I don't know the Pegasaurus 🤣 but I can tell you girl chicks fight for real. They charge, bump, and chase each other, just as much as boy chicks.
The only difference in behaviour I've seen up to three weeks is that girl chicks did not climb on their mum... and that could have been a coincidence !
What about the feathers vs comb argument? Has it got any merit?

It helps where there are bike paths. They could be a lot better (a la Holland) but in Australia, there is very much a 'car is king' attitude, given that we are a large country with a small population, and very spread out. We haven't been able to get our act together like Europe and create a high-speed train network; Australia is an incredibly car-centric nation. :(
It's true. But I do my bit to disrupt the norm in my peeling, faded, unwashed Kia Rio (don't tell Bob!) :gig

Lozzy! That's awesome! Thank you so much 😍 Was it very early? 9ish maybe?

Mate, I wish I had half your inclination for exercise! ManueB is good at getting it done too. I just sit back and admire you both 🤣 Seriously, I'm inspired by you both.

That view is incredible! It goes on and on.

I get what you mean now about visiting - I felt like I was riding along on your shoulder! Did it take very long to get used to the recumbent trike? I might suggest one for my uncle. He's been a cyclist his whole life until his recent health problems and they won't let him back on the bike, but maybe they'll let him use a trike?
Yes like visiting. I even shied away when the car came from the right!
Further inspiration to do a bit of tidying and do a video tour if the Chicken Palace!

She runs around in a lively manner but is quieter more often than the other chicks. The poops on the towel were not great. All one colour (no urates) and they looked gritty. However, she's been drinking plenty of water with probiotics and eating. She did well on crumble when she was in the cage but reverted to junk the moment she was able.
Glad she is lively and poops a lot. Personally I wouldn’t keep her away very much longer from the others anymore if she is very lively.

Great bike ride😍

The (high speed) train network in Europe is not okay!
The avian transport is much better organised and almost tax free, which makes it difficult to compete. 🤬

We do have a great bike infrastructure in the Netherlands. In (between) villages/towns and for recreation too.

Cars get in traffic jams all the time in my country. And if we go to other countries we often have to pay to use the highways.

It would be so much better for the environment to have better and affordable trains.

For work/every day traffic cycling is often the best transport if you live near your work. The e-bike became very popular for distances between 5 and 20km. Sometimes in combination with a train/bus. In general public transport takes 2x the time of going by car. A bike is sometimes faster, healthier and cheaper. And you don’t have to pay to park. Parking a car in a city /city centre costs in general in between € 1 - 8 /hour.

It was about 8-ish; I got to the boat shed at 6.30am and we rowed about 8km. It was such a nice morning yesterday. Apart from the March flys that have just shown up! 😕

I’ve always done some sort of sport or exercise, and more recently I’ve discovered it’s an excellent way to keep depression at bay. I’ve been riding to work for over a year now, although I did it for a while when we first moved there. I stopped when I was teaching piano after work, but I haven’t taught since Covid.

I went back to riding when the cost of living got ridiculous and I was sick of haemorrhaging money. Hubby had converted his mountain bike into an e-bike and suggested taking that, given that I’m only a 10-minute drive from work. That was great, although I was having recurring health issues, so hubby surprised me with the trike that he found on eBay. I just love it, although I won’t ride it anywhere unless I can hide it, as I don’t trust people not to damage it. I would definitely recommend it for your uncle, if it wouldn’t exacerbate his health problems. There are no balance issues with three wheels and you can get ones with bigger wheels so you sit higher.

I felt like I was walking around with you when you toured your run, I love what current technology can do (I also hate what it can be capable of, but that’s another story). There’s nothing quite like travelling, but watching someone else’s video diary is a nice substitute. 🙂

I’m glad you enjoyed my little jaunt with me. 😊
