MJ's little flock

They are so trusting. It's remarkable.
There is nothing like that feeling of trust.

The email from the vet came through.

Edie's imaging results show a generalised intracoelomic increase in soft tissue. This is particularly prominant dorsal and caudal to her ventriculus (stomach) which is the location of the reproductive organs. This suggests that she likely has a reproductive tract disease which could be a tumour or a uterine impaction. There are other possibilities but this is the most likely. We have two options from here:
1) Referral for CT and specialist ultrasond to get a better diagnosis.
2) Go straight to an exploratory coeliotomy surgery to get an exact diagnosis and possibly treat pathology while we are there.
So she's going to have an exploratory coeliotomy on Jan 2 and will be on meloxicam and amoxyclav until then, which I'll pick up tomorrow.
Oh my. I hope it's something correctable. :hugs :hugs :hugs

Wow! Amazing that you caught that on film. Great reaction by everyone. Have they gone back to that bench again?
It was very lucky! They were hopping around the bench and I hid in the laundry to catch the action without interfering with it. Then, whoosh! Out of the blue.

They haven't been back to the bench that I've seen. However last night they were napping on a pile of logs nearby.

@Shadrach I have to get a large tablet into Edie twice a day. I recall you said you prefer to wrap them in moist bread but I think these are too large for that. Any tips? What about smudging mayonnaise or cottage cheese over it?

I can put it down her throat at night but I imagine she's already in a bit of pain so I'd rather not handle her if I don't have to.

She also has to have liquid medication twice daily but that's easy on a tiny piece of bread.

If it's a pill (solid) I crush them and make a paste and do the bread thing. If it's a capsule (powder in shell) I split the shell and make a paste with the contents and soak that up with bread, or whatever the bird will eat.

I'll try paste in bread tomorrow. Thanks!
