MJ's little flock

Here is a puzzle for all you chicken fans.

Edwina usually lays an egg every 2 or 3 days. This week she laid one on Monday and hasn't laid another since.

This morning (Saturday) there were 2 of her eggs under the roost quite close to each other. One was thin shelled and broken and the other looked like this

Any theories?
The bloom not being evenly applied?
Well, the side of the egg that is smooth and brown was the side that was buried in the straw under the perches. The white stuff is quite rough too.

Good evening folks :frow

She applied excess calcium to this one. Something that happens occasionally and nothing to worry about. But this along with a soft shell is concerning. For now, just keep a close eye on what she lays.
Yes, it's like the calcium for the soft shelled egg went to the other one instead. So one egg got a double dose and the other got next to nothing.

Actually, you are inspiring me to be less of a slob. I have lovely tea cups too and an extensive tea-pot collection and yet I always eat on the go and swig my tea from a mug.
I think it would be good for my general peace if I did what you do and had a beautiful set up for weekend breakfast.
First however I have to clear all the junk off the table .. ..
Oh dear, that is my problem too. I also have some lovely table clothes and doilies from my parents I could show off.

So here's my coffee cup. ;)

I don't drink coffee but I love your mug. Very pretty!
You too are inspiring me - I have several very lovely mugs but somehow I always use the chipped one that came free at a gas station in the '70s.
Must do better!

Us too. The table is a wreck with stuff.

I have an extensive mug collection. They used to be give-aways in my line of work and I collected them all. They are on my book shelves, display shelves, everywhere. Mrs BY Bob gets quite cross with me at times as they take up too much of her cupboard space. Frankly I only use about 7 of them regularly.

After beating me up this morning (don't worry the bruises aren't too bad this morning ;)), Mrs BY Bob brought me breakfast in bed. Scrambled eggs with bacon, broccoli, and cheese with sourdough toast. The coffee mug has Fangio's F1 dominating Alfa Romeo on it.
