Obeying her avian masters
There was no quote with your post Shad. I'm guessing that was in response to my reaction to your computer screen. It's an interesting point.
I think it reflects the reality of the chickens life; a constant struggle to be free.
There are billions of chickens, three times more chickens on this planet than humans I've read. I doubt if 1% of them are free.
I don't know what the percentage is that get killed every year to provide food for us, our dogs, cats, most pet foods have either chicken of fish in. As a sweeping generalisation I would estimate most chickens get killed by humans.
Reading BYC for example one might be tempted to believe that all those pet loving chicken keepers are improvinng the lot of the chicken.
No creature in it's right mind would choose to be a pet of a human.
Even the 'nice' keepers shut their chickens in tiny little pens, steal their eggs, prevent them from carrying out their natural actions. Then they force breed them so they can have 'pretty' chickens, or more productive chickens.
It seems that society has reached a point where people would rather construct a delusion than deal with reality. Everybody busts a gut to appear 'nice' and make their environment 'nice'.
The picture, apart from being rather well done, reminds me of just how not nice we actaully are.
Reality, it's always worth bearing in mind.
Just saying....![]()
You are quite right of course. You are a hard headed realist and while I admire that, it is often quite scary!
Let me hide behind my delusions and ignorance for short time and I will ease myself out by increments that I can handle. That way I won't go completely catatonic and may be of some use in the long run!
