MJ's little flock

I'm a bit conflicted. I want to rush in and keep them all safe but then next time there will be another sale.

So I don't think I can participate in future. I'll go directly to the breeders instead.
I couldn't do that. :( That's quite awful...
I do buy directly from a very ethical breeder.

Very nice looking Sussex there. You have more resistant will power than I do. I would have succumbed...

It wasn't great. I'm a bit squeamish about things like that. I value chickens for reasons that are unrelated to their economic worth. And the sale converted them all into mere commodities. I might've felt better if they were in pens instead of boxes. One small box had four araucana cockerels in it. They could barely move.

The other ladies who were bidding for her were buying her as a pet, so I didn't compete against them.
No. She will have a good life. I always feel so sorry for the cockerels. Gonna end up on a dinner plate... :( Poor things. Not their fault they were born male.
