Janet's not well this morning. I think she may have coccidiosis from digging in the wet soil yesterday. I'm kicking myself over it.
I've called the vet and will take her in for a diagnosis and treatment.
I've just had an update. He suspects coccidiosis and has taken a sample for testing. We'll know The results later. For now, she remains in hospital. I hope to bring her home today, but it might have to be tomorrow.
I'll definitely stop so she can look at the seaAlthough she may not be calm enough to make the most of it.
I wonder if that chicken vet knows of someone closer to your house. Might be worth a phone call. You are a good chicken keeper. Great job getting her help af quick add you did.
Great news, I found a Chicken vet. Bad news, she's 7 hours by car from me. My daughter's cat vet also takes care of chickens. That would a long car trip with a sick chicken.![]()
I know how much I learned in three years at uni, so I figure a vet is way ahead of me in terms of specialised knowledge and practical skills. You are a good chicken keeper. Great job getting her help af quick add you did.

They may give you some advice over the phone. I chatted with the vet receptionist this morning & got some useful advice but they aren't specialist vets & I was shocked that I had more idea than they did. I tried a number of places for the amprolium : 3 out of 6 had never heard of it; 2 places didn't have it in stock & the vet told me it was prescription only; it's not.You are a good chicken keeper.
