MJ's little flock

Ok, I've just had an update on Janet who stayed at the vet overnight. She's perfectly fine and can come home. He thinks she may have been dehydrated. Whatever it was, I'm glad she's ok now.

We'll definitely stop at the beach on our way home.

Get this: no charge for an exam and an overnight stay. Edit: AND a fecal test.

I feel like I've won the lotto!
It sounds like you've got a great vet! Take him a present one day.:)

Janet's trip back home from the vet

The day started well with a DOZEN meal worms for breakfast at the vet's! Talk about fancy!

Buckle up Janjan :)

Just as well I'm not precious about the car

Driving along and enjoying the scenery.

And a stop to gaze at the sea. I can't say she really appreciated it like Sandy did, but she gave it several lingering glances.

She doesn't have Sandy's aptitude for car travel. I can only give her 7/10 because she climbed onto the dashboard and then slowly slid off, wings a-flapping. Fortunately we were stopped at an intersection, so her acrobatics caused no harm. But next time she'll have to remain in the travel basket until we're on the home stretch.
Awww:love

Mary's in the nesting box!

It's been weeks since I last saw a white egg! Maybe she's decided to come back from her summer holiday? Last week she was very red in her comb and wattles, so I'm hopeful!

She took a short drink (only two minutes, usually she's at her drink for a good fifteen because she has to spend so much time dabbing her shoulders with water) and then made for the nesting box with a lot of determination and no hesitation. Straight up the ramp, through the little door, gone from sight.

Come on Mary, my friend!

I'm trying to work out what he might like.

He doesn't have many chicken photos on his patients pin up board. Yet he's so very good with them.

Perhaps I'll get my three best photos of the hens printed off at the shops. Then other clients will see more chickens on the pin up board and know he's trusted with them.

I consider myself to be a reasonably experienced chicken keeper. I've dealt with quite a few injuries, not so much illnesses thankfully. However, if it is not something I am confident about I take the patient to a vet. I'm not a vet. I don't have the equipment, the drugs and the experience for most illnesses.
That's what I think too - except I don't have anything like your experience. Also I don't have six years of study under the tutelage of world experts behind me, nor decades of case work. Nothing I do will be as competent as treatment from Dr Hill.
