MJ's little flock

I was asked on another thread if I could post some pictures of the types of houses found here. The four below are urbanish houses and all keep chickens free range. There is one picture where the chickens are in a run. I think they are in there because he's recently planted. Usually when I go past they are out and about.

The rooster by the side of the house is apparently 12 years old. He attacks his keeper on a regular basis I'm told.

Very cool. Thanks Shadrach. I love that rooster just hanging out in the side yard.

I just re-read your bet-winning story, it is awesome! I hope the dog-owner stops hassling you so much about the animals but by the sound of it, it’s water off a duck’s back.
The problem is they are his animals. :D
The mans a bit of an ejit but he thinks he's awfully clever and all that....

I don’t have time for people who think too highly of themselves. But I guess if you’re getting the benefit of spending time with the animals, he’s part of the package. From how you write your posts though, you sound like you have a thick skin.

I don't care how highly people think of themselves. What I have trouble with is arrogance (to lay claim to that one is not capable of) If someone can do something well then I'm fine with a bit of self publicity. I seem to have met an awful lot of people through my current living circumstances who have trouble lacing their boots up without tying both together, but advertise themselves as a lot of things they aren't.
This sort of arrogance does over time lead to stupidity. If one believes, as in this mans case, that he is of a level of intelligence that he no longer needs to learn then he and anyone like him, stop learning. We used to get a lot of high level academics visit here. It was interesting to watch those who were fundamentally intelligent go about a task and those who it seems had specialized themselves into stupidity on every other endeavored not pertinent to their specialist subject.
There is a phrase that one can't prise out of this person with a crowbar and that is 'I don't know.'
