Mel wandered in late morning and proceded to sit in the now empty nest.
I was cooking lunch and looked over to find Mel checking out what I was cooking.

She's gone. We euthanised her an hour ago. I've brought her home for burial. She had kind words and gentle pats as she went under.

Her last months with you were, I imagine, the best in her life. You even gave her some new girls to boss around!

I'm very proud of giving her a home when she needed one.

I'm ok thanks. I've got a nice day planned and Sandy's tree perked up over night like they do.

Ivy hasn't been eating well since Sandy passed and the new pecking order started. So I've left her in the henhouse by herself for breakfast. She's eaten from every container and had a drink, so I'm very pleased with her.

How about you?

Good job staying observant. Any chance we could a full picture of Ivy now? I'd love to see that new tail again.

Sure. Her front end caught up with her back end since I last described her. The skin on her face sas salmon pink yesterday instead of baby pink. So perhaps an egg will turn up soon.
