Good evening folks :frow

We got a nice surprise yesterday, seems all the girls in one of our coops decided to lay. So yesterday's count turned out to be an even dozen rather than one or two,
Synchronous Laying. New Olympic sport :p

I've been watching Ivy. She considers the pigeons are higher in the pecking order than she is. I put out one food bowl each and rather than joining the other chooks, she let the pigeons go first then ate their leftovers.

Is there anything I can do to foster her self esteem so she eats before the pests?

Ivy says, is this my breakfast?

This morning I was still in my jimjams and drinking a mug of tea in the chickens' big yard while they had some breakfast. My presence deters pigeons, you see.

Anyway, I was watching Peggy chow down when I thought, Where's Ivy?

Then there was a little taptap on my tooshi! It was Ivy checking to see if polka dots are edible. Awww so sweet :love

Those are the moments I miss most since I can't free range.

Hopefully soon the new neighbors will move in and I can let a few out at a time again.

I would discourage the pigeons. I don't think you can change her perception of where she belongs in the pecking order.

I cannot fathom that behavior. Sansa chases the doves here and Hattie was stalking a robin to kill it yesterday. We won't talk about Lilly taking on everything.
