MJ's little flock

So fast she is nothing but a bbbbbblllllllluuuuuurrrrrrr as she speeds around. Love that girl!

That is some nice chicken enrichment there. Good job.
Those stumps were someone else's hard rubbish. It's considered ok to help yourself to someone else's hard rubbish in Adelaide, so when I saw some excellent tree stumps, I grabbed the sack truck and made a few trips back and forth. Well worth it for the delight it gave Ivy yesterday and I'm sure the others will catch on in time.

Good evening folks :frow

Mj, I'm so glad Janet's recovering so nicely.
It's a relief. I hope her swelling from the surgical wound is down this morning. She's obviously much more cheerful and she's not rubbibg her face on her back any more. She's still shaking her head but that should slow down as the eye muck eases.

It looks like I am finally making progress with Locks leg problem. She isn't pecking at the raised scales from what I can tell and her legs look less bumpy. I've been treating them with Blastoestimulina every other night.
Lock has got a roosters legs. They are much thicker than any of the other hens. She also tries to crow from time to time and doesn't lay eggs. She's a very strange hen. The others seem to know that she's different. She pecks Bracket and the other hens. It's not a hard peck and it's often on their backs. They all put up with it. She also backs down the cockerels who seem a bit intimidated by her.
It has recently sunk in that what I see as a strange gait is in fact more similar to a roosters walk than a hens. There is a difference if you watch carefully.
It's unfortunate that I don't have a video camera because her behaviour and the response of the others to it is quite extraordinary It's not that hse is at all aggressive in any bullying sense and the pecks she gives the other hens are very funny to watch. She sort of sneaks up on them and gently pecks them with a closed beak. Naturally they jump but they don't retaliate, they just move away and carry on as normal. She's the last out of the coop in the mornings and Mag waits in the coop with her until he sees her get off the perch. She also doesn't seem to be in any going to roost order and roosts with Bracket while the others all roost together.
I wonder if Lock is inter-sex/gynandromorphism ? Or maybe just an old fashioned "Tomboy"

Ugh this morning I was supposed to be going to school but mum said absolutely not. I’m too sore to be going to school cause I broke down in tears, she let the school know. It took me at least a half hour just to get out of bed. Heh I took a dose of painkillers
I'm sorry to hear about your fall. Hope you get better soon. Did you get an Xray ?? Maybe you broke a rib :(

I love that. Way to upcycle! :thumbsup

You see, this is my exact problem. Hudson won’t stand still for me to remount. I need someone to hold the other stirrup down before I can get on. I didn’t get the chance to ride today because the NBN was being installed and they had machinery and didn’t finish till 5 and the sun was starting to go down
maybe you need a remote openner :)

I couldn't let those perfect stumps go to the rubbish dump :gigthere were a couple of blokes working on a neighbour's roof and I went past them six times, they must've wondered what on earth I wanted with ratty old tree stumps :gig
