Ivy is off the nest for food, drink and bathing. I put out a generous handful of dried mealworms for good measure. It's a cool day, so I'm hoping she cools down enough to change her mind about sitting. I've also taken her egg away.
Well, she ate lots, bathed lots, then got back on the nest. I guess I'll be locking her in again tonight.

Here is a puzzle for all you chicken fans.

Edwina usually lays an egg every 2 or 3 days. This week she laid one on Monday and hasn't laid another since.

This morning (Saturday) there were 2 of her eggs under the roost quite close to each other. One was thin shelled and broken and the other looked like this

Any theories?
She applied excess calcium to this one. Something that happens occasionally and nothing to worry about. But this along with a soft shell is concerning. For now, just keep a close eye on what she lays.
