In the Northern Territory, they have crocodiles wandering down the main street! (Apparently... )

They sunbake on the runway of the islands of the Cape. The monster one even has a name ~ apparently...

I could have worded this better. I had grandies underfoot is my excuse for not writing out my complete thought which was to do with all the posts I've come across on BYC of Backyard tinkerers who don't seem to have a clue what they're doing & are meddling just because they can. It just doesn't feel right to me. Unfortunately all the ones I've seen have been Americans, hence the sweeping generalisation. I've had to walk away. My thoughts on what they are doing are not repeatable in polite company.

I have a similar reaction to the hatch along threads and the incubator addicts.
Oh, but it's such FUN, I hear them say. Not a lot of fun for the chickens though.

No fun for the chicken @ all when they stuff up. There's more to genetics than just colour variations ~ as the poor ISA browns & Leghorns can attest! If they were trying to improve a chicken's life I'd be way more sympathetic.

Have to share, I’m sorry I’m posting so much so fast after joining! Belle and Snow (9.5 weeks) just went up into the coop together (Belle had a few tries before success, she’s small but she’s feisty ), they gave Bok, the older hen, about 10 mins to settle in there then they went in Im so pleased, I was watching through the lounge window, reading my book with a glass of red hahaha cheers all round

It’s so good, I’m so happy. Only had to pop them in for 2 nights manually and they got it (though Snow seems a bit dim in the radiance of Belle’s outgoing light )
Bok seems to be nice to them mostly but then I’ll go out in the yard and she almost puts on a show by getting all huffy with the wee ones. Show off?

lol I doubt she's showing off. More making sure everyone understands the pecking order ~ including you. It sounds like a nice little flock.

My flock free ranging as one for the first time today. Bok at front, then Snow then baby Belle (although she is the absolute boldest when it comes to food)
