I started laughing as soon as I saw the post!
I'm home again and they are not only OK but really happy and sassy, even Mary. She was standing above the muddy patch and the water level in the container is noticeably lower. But she's her usual cheery self. It's part of being a good chickeneer.![]()
One of the people I met with today HADN'T SEEN IT!!You guys are making me laugh at it all over again. It was in front of a judge. It just doesn't get more serious or more funny.
Thanks for sharing your tips. I've tried those things in the past, with varying degrees of success. I'm glad the shady, muddy patch met Mary's needs today. Soon there will be a misting system for hot days and it will give all of us peace of mind.I think they will be OK. It got close to that a couple of days this summer here. I put out some frozen yoghurt and ice cubes in the water and they were fine for most of the day. And you will be back by noon.
One idea I settled on was making mega-ice cubes using containers you use for food in the fridge. I would pop one of those out for them in their water bowl and let it melt. It provided cold water for quite a while even in those temperatures.
Or I could air-freight you some snow!![]()
